On a visit to the Molineux today I was lucky enough to meet up with ex Wolves players Malcolm Finlayson and Mel Eves. They were both at an event which had raised funds for retired players. In the modern game with so much money involved, it was refreshing to talk to players who still spoke enthusiastically about how they had loved playing football.
On my way out in the Car Park I was interviewed by Sky Sports about the Liverpool managers comments that Everton “are a small club”. They saw me with my supporters scarf and asked me directly if I thought the Wolves were a small club. Thinking of both Malcolm and Mel I couldn’t help but reply ” In terms of heart, passion, loyalty and commitment, you’d be hard pressed to find a bigger club than the Wolves”. Both reporters smiled at me, and I walked away with a slightly lighter spring in my step.
