Outstanding results from May 1st

For the last two months the Conservative group and all activists have been focusing on the local elections, so apologises for me keeping quiet recently. The results speak for themselves:

1.  Council composition when I was selected 14 months ago, 40 Labour Councillors, 15 Conservative Councillors.

2. Council composition today, 28 Labour Councillors, 27 Conservative Councillors.

The Conservative share of the vote across Wolverhampton was nearly 49% of the popular vote, with Labour down on 34 %.  No spin, no hype, just plain simple facts.

Congratulations to all the candidates and activists for making their case so effectively. There are certain Labour politicians who deserve some credit, but I’m too polite to mention them.

A remarkable result, and all the hard work has paid off - when the Heath Town Conservative gain from Labour came through, and both the Labour Council Leader and Deputy Leader were worried about their seats, it was pretty clear it would be a good day for the Conservatives — and most importantly Wolverhampton. Under Cllr Neville Patten’s inspiring leadership of the Council, the city will move forward in a big way. There are great times ahead for all the people of Wolverhampton.

Extremely well done! I know from our work in the East Riding last year just how much work goes in to getting a result like that. There must be a lot of sore feet in Wolverhampton.
